Jeep’s Grand Cherokee expands the dimensions of the standard Cherokee to offer even more interior space and comfort. The same style and sophistication remains with this larger SUV to ensure it appeals to motorists instantly. Underlining the vehicle’s attraction is its excellent performance in multiple environments. The new Grand Cherokee is therefore a stand-out model in a competitive class.
The Jeep look is unique and head-turning. The brand’s latest models all share a similar front end which is defined by a multi-part grille made up of vertical air intakes. On the Grand Cherokee this is positioned in front of a folded hood and between stylish square headlamps. Similar sharp creases flow down each side of the SUV underneath the model’s high waistline. This highlights its tall posture which adds a sense of self-assurance to the vehicle’s character. The Grand Cherokee SRT version stands apart from the rest of the range with its own alloy wheel design and a reshaped front fender.
Brembo® brake calipers confirm the SRT’s high-performance. The roomy cabin is a comfortable place to be no matter how far you plan to travel. A raised ride height gives you a clear view of other cars and your surroundings. From your elevated position you won’t need to reach far to operate the infotainment system or grab items held in the convenient storage compartments. Taller adult passengers can relax on the rear bench, and with all seats occupied there remains a generous amount of room in the trunk for luggage.
The Grand Cherokee’s six models - Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, SRT and Trackhawk, all arrive with varying levels of technology and everything you could need on the road. The 8.4” touch screen mounted within the dashboard incorporates audio, communication and satellite navigation functions where fitted.
You can also switch between these features without removing your hands from the wheel, using the controls mounted directly to it. Purchasing the Grand Cherokee Limited or above fits the car with a Parkview® rear back-up camera to help you avoid incidents when reversing into or out of a parking space.
Three engine options are provided by Jeep and they all have enough pulling power to carry a full cabin plus a trailer with ease. The strongest is a 6.4 liter V8 delivering an ample 475hp and 0-62mph in less than five seconds. The other V8 is the 360hp 5.7 liter while the 3.6 liter V6 produces 290hp. Two intelligent 4WD systems are available to increase traction and assist the SUV in testing circumstances. Quadra-Drive® II includes an electronic limited slip differential which can send all available torque to the wheels with the most traction to help you continue forward. Quadra-Trac II® has a similar purpose and employs traction control at any speed to power the axle that has the most grip. The eight-speed automatic transmission takes care of gear changes so you can focus on maneuvering the Grand Cherokee.
The Supercharged 6.2L HEMI®V8 in the Trackhawk variant helps make it the fastest accelerating SUV and gives it the fastest quarter-mile time and highest torque rating of any SUV.
A network of safety systems take automatic action to help you stay in control of the vehicle at all times. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) combines Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Brake Assist (BA). Trailer Sway Control (TSC) comes into play when you are pulling a trailer, to prevent movement at the rear from destabilizing the SUV.
